Healing Our Hurts
Hurts so deep, infected, festering,
oozing out in bitterness, anger, frustration —
inflicting pain, creating suspicion, dividing families.
Harmful, hurtful pain.
Evil rejoices.
Sharp, piercing, probing instruments open the wound.
Pressure squeezing out the pus, forcing out the bitterness.
purifying, cleansing, burning flame pours into the wound
but it's a healing pain.
Good rejoices.
Soothing oil, healing words, gentle hands, loving care —
the Healer comes and binds the wound with healing balm —
broken, still wounded, but entrusting oneself
to the only source of health, life, healing.
The Savior rejoices.
Love, joy, peace, patience, restored relationships, trust,
reaching out to others, bringing the good news of hope.
The lost is found.
All heaven rejoices.
