An undivided heart
Get up, get ready, get breakfast, get going.
Hurry to work, see this one, talk to that one,
Finish this task, begin a new one, answer the phone,
Run an errand, listen to this one, try to ignore that one.
So many directions, running up and down,
here and there, tensions rising, stress, pressure mounting
Take something here, take a pill, take a break —
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.
Give me time, give me patience, give me strength
Give me—AN UNDIVIDED HEART THAT I MAY FEAR YOUR NAME.
Divided into multiple pieces,
How can I collect myself, my heart?
BE STILL, COME AWAY, REST A WHILE, SET YOUR EYES ON JESUS,
THE AUTHOR AND COMPLETION OF YOUR FAITH.
Fear God, live in awe and respect of his sovereignty.
Be overwhelmed with his love for me and those around me.
He wants to bless me, making my life all it can be as I yield to him.
Sometimes that means being busy; sometimes it means being still.
But busy or still, I need the focus of all I do and am to be on JESUS.
That is the undivided heart—to love my Savior, to keep him at the center of all
And then to go about the multiple tasks of the day with a purpose, and plan,
and timeframe that is controlled by the Sovereign God.
