Celebrating in Nepal

Each of these is honored on one of the five days of the festival. On the first day, a crow is honored for being a messenger. On the second day, they honor the dog as a guardian of the household.

The milk cow is considered sacred because it provides milk. The ox is honored on the fourth day because of the work it does plowing the fields.

Finally, on the fifth day, siblings are honored. The family in my community has two children under the age of 3!
The festival of Diwali, pronounced di VA li, is celebrated by nice foods often made of rice, leis of yellow flowers, and opening a walnut at the door of the home.

So reach out to those in your neighborhood! There's no telling what you might learn.
